Like many traits and conditions, hearing loss can be passed down through generations. While the majority of hearing loss is related to ageing or noise exposure, it is becoming more understood that genetics are responsible in some people. Indeed, several recent studies have identified a whole host of genes that are related to hearing loss. And like genes for hair colour and other traits, they can be passed down from one generation to the next.

So, if hearing loss seems to be common in your immediate or extended family, consider having your hearing screened on a regular basis. If you have concerns about your hearing please phone Accurate Hearing to book a hearing screening at one of our 3 locations.
