How loud is too loud? How to safely use MP3 players

Exposure to noise levels over 85 decibels can damage your hearing with prolonged exposure. With personal music players such as MP3's becoming more and more popular, just how safe are they for your hearing? At their loudest, MP3 players can be 105 decibels. This level of sound can damage your hearing after a few minutes. So, can they be used safely? Yes. Keep the volume at or below the players mid-range and limit use to no more than a few hours per day.
