See the link below for a good article on why you shouldn't clean your ears out on your own, especially with cotton swabs. The only time earwax should be removed is if your ear canal is completely blocked, causing hearing loss. Even then, you should see a Physician or Audiologist trained in wax removal to have it cleaned.
