Having your hearing checked for the first time can be a bit intimidating. At Accurate Hearing we want to make it as comfortable as possible for you. We take the time to walk you through each step and answer any questions you may have. That being said, there are some simple things you can do to prepare for your visit.

The first thing we will do is a case history. You may want to bring notes about your medical and work history. For example, a list of medications and any jobs where you have been exposed to loud noise. It would also be useful to bring a list of your symptoms to discuss with your hearing care professional.

Next is the hearing evaluation. This takes place in a sound proof booth. You will be asked to repeat speech at various levels and listen to tones and indicate when you hear them. Your ear canals and the functioning of your eardrums will also be assessed.

After the evaluation, we will thoroughly discuss the results with you and make sure you understand everything before you leave. This is a good time to ask any questions you have about your hearing. You may want to have a list of questions prepared beforehand. We are happy to take the time to answer any questions you may have.

If you or someone you know experience difficulty hearing, please phone Accurate Hearing at 252-3004 in Lower Sackville, or 423-7734 in Halifax to schedule a hearing evaluation.
