Could owning a dog help prevent some infections in young children? A recent study published in the journal Pediatrics seems to suggest so. The researchers found that owning a dog reduced the risk of infection, including ear infections. They believe dogs bring more dirt and bacteria into the house. Exposure to dirt and bacteria may help build up a babies immune system. It will be interesting to see if more studies confirm this result.
