“If only people would stop mumbling I would be able to hear them.”

Do you ever find yourself saying this? If so, you may have hearing loss. While it is true, some people do mumble, not being able to hear people clearly is an early symptom of hearing loss.

Hearing usually decreases very gradually. Early on it may seem as if nothing is wrong because you can still hear everything around you, it’s just a little harder to hear people clearly. Our first inclination is to blame our communication partner for mumbling or talking to fast. However, even a mild hearing loss can cause us to have difficulty understanding what someone is saying.

If this is something you are experiencing on a consistent basis it may be time to have your hearing assessed.
